Robert Vincent Engel, Jr., 64, of Licking, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020, of natural causes.
He was born on August 1, 1955 in Escondido, California, the son of Robert, Sr. and Opal Marlene (Brady) Engel. He was known to family and friends as Bob, Bob, Jr., and Bobby.
Bob grew up and spent most of his life mainly in La Mesa and Spring Valley, California, where he enjoyed baseball, motorcycles, desert trips, hot rods and any kind of racing. His ability to create, fix and restore anything with metal was a true talent. He was in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic stationed mainly in Iceland and decided that four years was enough. Bob had hands-on experience and was able to achieve many certificates and hosted training programs teaching others his skill. Bob’s true love was living, breathing, hearing, watching and participating in motorcycle riding and racing. He would often say the desert was his sanctuary.
He loved his children very much; he spent as much time as possible with his kids making lasting memories. He made a point to help anyone he could and enjoyed everyone who visited him. Friday nights you could always find him having cold beers in the shop hosting tech nights to help friends and family. Bob had a genuinely good heart and desire for everyone to feel he would give the shirt off his back to help how he could.
Bob shared his Christian faith with those who would listen. He was a true, one-of-a-kind original. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert, Sr.
He is survived by his children, Robert Vincent Engel, III and Rachelle Nicole Engel of El Cajon, California; his mother, Marlene Engel of Cabool, Missouri; and sister, Brenda and husband Don Edgington of Cabool.
No services are planned at this time. Arrangements were under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
