Sigman reelected city marshal, Hawkins, Melton win school board seats

Jerald Sigman was returned for another four years as Cabool city marshal in Tuesday’s election.

Sigman received 144 votes to challenger Rex Churchill’s 16 in unofficial results received by the Enterprise from the county clerk’s office at 1:38 p.m. Wednesday.

Two seats were decided on Cabool Board of Education. Chosen for those three-year posts were Steve Hawkins and Chelsea Melton with unofficial vote totals of 187 and 176 respectively from the school district’s voters in Texas and Douglas counties. Shelby Ellison received 163 votes and Chad Hunter, 120.

Burdine Township voters chose Michelle Wright as treasurer-trustee with 174 votes to Lonnie Grogan’s 86.

Texas County voter turnout was 14.2% with 2,108 ballots cast from a register voter pool of 14,847.
