Wilburn Randall “Randy” Thompson, 64, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away on June 5, 2021 after a long fight with kidney disease.
He was born on December 11, 1956 in Cabool, the son of Wilburn and Hazel (Gann) Thompson. Randy attended Cabool Schools and was a 1975 graduate of Cabool High School.
On February 7, 1975 Randy married his high school sweetheart, Janene Upton, also of Cabool. Together they would build a wonderful life over the next 46 years.
Randy was a longtime employee of DFA in Cabool until his retirement in 2019. Prior to going to work for DFA he worked for Town and Country supermarkets for 21 years, working in Willow Springs, Mountain Grove and Cabool.
One of Randy’s greatest joys was riding motorcycles; he and his wife owned Harley Davidson motorcycles and could often be seen zipping around town. Ran, as he was known to his family, also enjoyed mowing his yard, piddling on his tractor, fishing, helping his friends and spending time with his family.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, one older brother and his father-in-law.
He leaves behind his wife, Janene of Cabool; his son, Jason and his wife, Tammy; two grandchildren and many family and friends.
At this time there is no plan for a service or visitation, per Randy’s wishes. There will be a private family service at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
