Sandra Gail (Mullins) Claussen, born in Cabool, Missouri, August 1, 1950, passed away June 8, 2021 in Oxford Junction, Iowa, after a long battle with cancer.
Sandy is survived by her children, Jeannie, Sheri and Shelia; her mother, Eva Mullins; her sisters, Eva Ann Ross, Gloria Henry, and Reene Roelandt; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her companion, Michael Snyder, and his granddaughter, Cassie.
Sandy was a talented crafter, making quilts, tatting, doing counted cross stitch and whatever else she might try her hand at. She was a creative writer and produced many poems reflecting the beauty of the Ozarks as well as her thoughts. Sandy was drawn to animals and would often meet visitors with a kitten or newly hatched chick in her hands. She researched and organized an extensive family history, collected and preserved old photos and loved to share the stories she found. A natural conversationalist, she made friends easily and enjoyed hearing the stories of her new-found friends.
Sandy appeared as a soft spirit, but those who knew her, knew her to be one of the strongest people walking the earth, facing tough challenges and living the life she loved. Her passing leaves an empty place in the hearts of her family and friends.
