Rosie Lee Hanson, 82, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, passed away July 22, 2021, at Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool, Missouri.
She was born on March 25, 1939, near Broughton, Illinois, to Kelbert and Mildred (Johnson) Eaton. Around the age of 14 she was saved at Lebanon Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She graduated Cabool High School in 1957. Rosie worked at the local laundromat, Tiny’s Steak House, then Brown Shoe Factory where she retired in 1995 after 32 years.
Rosie and her two daughters, Tammy and Tina, lived on the family farm as a trio until she was united in marriage on April 16, 1976, to Robby Gail Hanson. Robby and Rosie enjoyed their days together on the farm in Cabool until his passing in 2015.
Rosie had a quiet personality, but once you were around her, she had quite a sense of humor. She had a tremendous love for the outdoors. Every summer her vegetable garden abundance was shared with her neighbors. Many of those neighbors came to Rosie for fresh farm eggs. Every imaginable farm animal was at one time a resident of the Hanson farm, even a pair of peacocks. She was a talented self-taught seamstress. Many of her evenings were spent embroidering quilts for family and friends that have become treasured keepsakes.
She was an avid bingo player and NASCAR fan. One of her most cherished memories was cheering on her favorite driver, Carl Edwards, at Texas Motor Speedway on her 75th birthday.
There was nothing Rosie loved more than spending time with her children and grandchildren. Throughout the years she also welcomed many others as her own.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years; her parents; siblings Maxi Eaton of Elk Creek, Missouri, Donnie Eaton of Kansas, and Mildred Doty, Arnold Eaton and Sharon Miller, all of Cabool; and a stepdaughter, Julie Edwards of Mississippi.
She is survived by her daughters, Tammy and husband Rip of Texas and Tina and husband Kent of Cabool; stepsons, Austin Hanson of Arkansas, Russell Hanson and wife Margaret of St. Charles, Missouri, and Jesse and wife Shawanna Hanson of Seymour, Missouri; brother Eugene and wife Carol of Springfield, Missouri; and sister June Barnes of Cabool. She also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Hickory Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Benjamin Leonard officiating.
