Carol Leroy Woods, 79, of Gassville, Arkansas, passed away on August 3, 2021 at his home.
He was born to Esel and Evelena (Patterson) Woods on August 26, 1941 in the Sargent, Missouri, area. Carol served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and eventually retired from the Army National Guard.
Carol was married to Mary Louise Cook on July 17, 1971 at Oak Grove Baptist Church near Simmons, Missouri, and to this union two children were born, Uhlan Esel (Buddy) on July 6, 1973 and Melissa Carol on September 2, 1975.
Carol spent most of his adult life in the Willow Springs, Missouri, and Cotter, Arkansas, area. He worked in the parts department at Ranger Boats for several years until retiring in 2003.
Carol was soft spoken and never met a stranger. He would help anyone with his last dime. He loved kids, often taking everyone’s kids to the store for candy and a pop; he would always say fill ’em with sugar and send ’em home!
Carol was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents, Esel and Evelena Woods; brother, James “Chubby” and brother-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Millem.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Buddy Woods and wife, Christina of Gassville, Arkansas; her daughter, Melissa Lemons and husband Braden of Mountain Home, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Dean and Lonnie; sister, Barbara June; brother-in-law, Rick Cook and wife Karen; sisters-in-law, Linda Cantrell, Kathy Cook and Sena Cook; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Carol will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2021, at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Cabool with Pastor David Carroll officiating. Interment was under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
